Both are effective: Both procedures are effective in removing winkles. Botox has its limitation. It can be injected into the forehead, frown lines, crow's feet, and a few other areas. It cannot be used for laugh lines (nasolabial folds). Also, if the lines are too deep, Botox may not completely get rid of them. A facelift can pretty much get rid of all the lines but it's a lot more expensive.

Depends: Wrinkles can come from expression (like smiling or frowning) or from gravity and volume loss (like the parenthesis lines around the mouth). Both can be treated with a face lift, but Botox will only treat those that come from expression. If your issue is volume loss, simply tightening the skin can give an unnatural look. http://www.omahacosmeticsurgery.com/face

Depends: botox treats wrinkles from movement especially on forehead and around the eyes, while facelifts correct jowls, cheek and neck wrinkles, and loose skin of the face.

Complementary: Botox will relax muscles and soften wrinkles that are caused by those muscles. A facelift will generally not work on the muscles but will reposition fat pads and excise loose or redundant skin. They can both work together.

If you have mild wrinkles and frown lines, Botox should be able to address them. However, a facelift is an all-around solution for lost skin elasticity, a sagging neck, and deep wrinkles, and addresses all aspects of aging in the face and neck.
