A member asked:

What specific health challenges face blind people?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Sleep, falls, meds: Totally blind people have difficulty controlling the sleep-wake cycle, since some light is needed for melatonin regulation. Totally and partially blind have problems with falls and other injuries, as will as loss of independence with activities of daily living. Self-dosing medications is especially problematic for the blind, namely insulin injections.
