Nerve disease: The best answer is neurological diseases. These affect the nerves of the brain, spinal cord, and peripheral nerves. There are special names for the diseases of the nerves (neuropathies), spinal cord (like syringomyelia or transverse myelopathy), and brain (stroke, MS, cerebritis, etc.) Some disease affect the nerve cells, some of the diseases appear to be within the nerve cells themselves.
