A member asked:

How can you tell if you have brain damage after an injury?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Physical exam, CT/MR: There is no clear cut way to say there has been no brain damage after an injury. Serial physical exams are key. Imaging with CT in the acute setting is used to look for acute blood or stroke findings. MRI provides more detail brain imaging and can detect very small foci of bleeding or nerve injury changes.
