How do doctors measure inflammation?

Various tests: This answer varies largely. It depending on what type of inflammation and where. Physician exam can help. There are also blood tests that can test for inflammatory markers such as CRP or ESR. However as I mentioned it largely depends on what you are looking for as inflammation is a broad topic.
