How long do the gums bleed after losing a tooth?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Depends: The dentist will instruct you to place rolled gauze on the socket to bite down on to provide pressure. Don't suck through a straw or rinse the area the same day to avoid dislodging the clot. Typically, an extraction site can ooze for a day or two, but profuse bleeding may require more care. A the tannins in a teabag (Lipton black tea type) can stop a stubborn bleeder.
