A member asked:

What to do for hip pain when i sit?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Hip Pain: Sitting presses the ball of the hip joint forcibly into the socket. In people with arthritis, this is not uncommon. Getting up from sitting is equally or more painful due to muscle contraction necessary to straighten up the hips to allow upright standing. Younger patients may have pain if there is a cartilage tear (similar to meniscus in knee). Try otc meds, but if persistent, may need MRI & ortho.
