What is hip pain?: True hip joint pain typically causes pain in the groin. Buttock pain may be related to the low back or si joint. Outer buttock/thigh pain can be related to greater trochanteric bursitis, iliotibial band syndrome or other local musculotendonous problems. Either way, recommend you get checked.
