Yes, get lab tests: Hi. Most cases of goiter (abnormal size and/or shape of the thyroid) are painless. Goiter is not infrequently associated with either under activity (hypothyroidism) or overactivity (hyperthyroidism). If the enlargement is a nodule, thyroid cancer may be a possibility (but is statistically less likely than benign). Have TSH and free T4 tested. If it's a nodule, see an endocrinologist for evaluation
