Nosocomial pneumonia, male (age 60), fever 103 for 3days. antibiotic started 2days ago (augmentin, azithro). when will temp. normalize? is it serious?

It can take a while: The condition sound serious. Nosocomial (hospital-acquired) infections are usually worse than "walking pneumonia" of the community. You'll be on antibiotics for 7-10 day (avg), & barring relapse, you start to feel better around that time. The fevers can persist until then, but usually dissipate in 2-3 days. If fevers persist, talk to your doc about changing antibiotics. Any lung infection is serious.
