Is the lymph node below the ramus at the jawline supposed to be bigger and easier to palpate than the rest of the lymph nodes in the area billaterally?

Facial nodes: The pre-facial and post -facial lymph nodes can sometimes be rolled under the edge of the mandible at the angle region. Normal lymph nodes should be approximately 1 cm or less. As a general rule, lymph nodes should not be palpable in adults. There is a range of normal and sometimes teenagers can have palpable nodes. I would suggest seeing your doctor for evaluation, preferably an ENT.

Not necessarily: See and ENT MD if you are worried. Often we see somewhat enlarged and therefore easier to palate nodes secondary to chronic infections as a child or adult. For example, anterior cervical chain nodes (under the SCM muscle) are harder to palate due to the overlying muscles. You must turn the head to the side to examine properly. Good luck.

See a dentist: The most common cause of swollen lymph nodes below the ramus at the jawline is an oral infection. See your dentist for evaluation, x-rays and treatment options. Good luck.
