Rule out active TB: Calcification in the apical lungs in a TB endemic region is old healed TB until proven otherwise . However active TB needs to be ruled out if you have any symptoms of shortness of breath, unplanned weight loss, bloody cough, chronic cough etc. It can be done with sputum studies or a ct scan. This " feature" cannot be removed by surgery, drugs, diet. .It is akin to a well healed injury.
