See Your Doctor NOW: Symptoms of eye pain, swelling, redness suggest possible infection. Orbital & periorbital cellulitis are 2 serious infections involving the eye in this age group; requires immediate diagnosis/treatment w/ antibiotics. Consider foreign body in eye also. Allergies & pink eye can cause these symptoms however presence of pain is a red flag. See your doctor NOW for correct diagnosis & prompt treatment.

Call your doctor: I suggest you call the child's doctor. An ER visit is not needed in this situation.
