Maybe he feels it: The last patient who told me her partner could feel the IUD string during sex actually had it cut very short. I don't think her partner was actually feeling it. In your case, have a doctor take a look at the length of the string. Yours might need a trim, which is easy for the doctor to do.

Can happen: That is not common but it is not abnormal either. Your doctor can bend or alter the strings so that your partner will not feel them. As you note, you will be due to have it removed in two months.

Mirena (levonorgestrel): this occurs occasionally. Your doctor can adjust the strings, it probably is the knot at the end of the Mirena (levonorgestrel). This can be done with your new one in a couple of months.
