Usual varies widely: Reality: If people are very healthy & in comfortable environment, can survive indefinitely on as little as 0.5 liter a day yet tolerate as much as 25 liters/day, a 50 fold range. With heart weakness, liver failure and/or kidney failure the range narrows markedly, both ends. Too much in, especially too fast, & we drown/die. This can happen to even the seemingly young, healthy. Most ideas=marketing.
