The side of the tip: Use the side of the rubber tip and not the point. Most patients think that the point is supposed to go into the pocket or take the food out. It is the side of the tip as it rubs and stimulates the gums that does the job, and not the tip. If you use it properly, you will be fine. Ask your dentist or dental hygienist to demonstrate to you how to use it correctly. Use it at a 45 degree angle.

I do not like them: Poorly designed and poor contour - does not work in tight spaces or wide open areas. Try wood stimudents, or better yet, try rotapoints (plastic stimudents). Much better design to go between the teeth and toughen the gums. If your teeth are wide apart, then interproximal / interdental brushes work better.

Gentle use of rubber: Rubber tips placed gently in the sulcus (space between your gums and teeth) can help stimulate blood flow to the area. Gently is the key word here! you still need to brush and floss well at least twice a day.
