Many causes: Neck problems, suprascapular nerve entrapment, peri-scapular bursitis, posterior rib-cage injuries, and rhomboid muscles can cause shoulder blade pain. See an orthopedist for proper evaluation.

Scapula Pain: Inflammation can occur underneath the shoulder blade where there is a bursa. This is called scapulothoracic bursitis and can be treated with therapy, NSAIDS, pain medications, and possibly a steroid injection. Make an appointment with an Orthopaedic shoulder surgeon to be evaluated and discuss treatment options. Take care, Joe Wilson.
