A member asked:

What does it mean when you have a stabbing pain at the base of your left shoulder blade in your back?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No trauma?: If you have not experienced a trauma, then the likely etiology of your pain is an irritated nerve in your neck. Anti-inflammatories and a formal course of physical therapy is the first line of treatment. An examination with an orthopaedic surgeon including xrays of both your neck and shoulder can help confirm the diagnosis.
