A member asked:

My mother (49 years) is diagonesd with myoma 5 years ago, she is always anaemic, is the myoma is life threatning and surgery is only remedy?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Not life threatening: Heaving menstrual bleeding is common with a myoma (utermine fibroid). These muscle tumors are not cancer, but can get quite large and cause heavy bleeding. If waiting for menopause isn't realistic, some type of surgical procedure is usually needed to control the bleeding.
