A member asked:

My mother(47)diagnosed with myoma 4 years back, she always have heavy periods which causes low haemoglobin(9 g/dl) levels, is surgery is possible?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes: For some women, this is the only answer to painful fibroids that cause bleeding and anemia. At 47, some doctors may assess size of fibroids and whether surgery is right for her. Without a full history and exam, impossible to say what is right for her, but a doctor's opinion, and maybe even a second opinion is the way to go. But definitely surgery at age 47 is possible.
