Technology: X-rays are generated by one machine & then read by a computer (digital) imager or film. Film takes stronger radiaiton but even 20 yr old dental x-rays are low dose. The question is how they capture the image since the generator can be turned down lower. Both methods give the same quality of diagnostics usually. The best way to know what your dentist uses is to ask & ask why they chose that.

Ask The Office: Call and ask the questions you have before your first visit to the office of your choice. The office manager should be able to answer this question, and many other questions relating to the office. Only the dentist can answer dental, radiographic and clinical questions. Be happy and comfortable in your new dental office, everyone benefits from a good "fit". Best to you!

Digital xrays: If you see the image on the monitor in one minute or so that's digital, no film to develop.
