Patient (yes),DA(no): old school = place camera and press xray trigger 6 ft way from a patient with a lead apron on. New school = faster film and new technologies with handheld devices with shields on them (brand name nomad) allow the operator (DA) to take the xray right up to the patient with a lead apron on the patient only. This depend on state regulations though because it has come across some debate.
