Hi! does psychological derived teeth clenching only occur at night? or could clenching in my case may be due to something else?

Clenching: Can occur any time, but in your case, without thorough workup, I am not sure if it is or not.

Any time: Grinding, clenching and bruxing can occur at any time, day or night dependent on the stresses or situations you are in. It is more common at night and that is when most of the damage is done since you are not aware of the grinding action. But damage occurs any time excessive forces are constantly placed on the teeth.

A couple of things.: Clenching or grinding at night has a gentetic predisposition. Children who grind their teeth have a high percentage of being an adult bruxer. Medications and stress can cause bruxing. A bad bite can also contribute to this. You should see a dentist that has taken post graduate training on occlusion to fabricate a mouth guard for you.

Situations: I see people clenching in elevators of high rise buildings due to either an innate fear of heights or claustrophobia.
