Contusion vs Sprain: I would start with rice rest ice 20 minutes every hour on the hour while awake today, then 3-4x/day for next three days. Compression with an ace wrap elevation also if you are able and not allergic, 2 aleve (naproxen) every 12 hours for 3 days.

Rest, ice : Sound like a pulled muscle. Rest, ice and use of over the counter nsaids are helpful. If you do not get better in a few days, please see a physician.
