Causes: There are multiple causes of back pain: arthritis, cardiac pain, sciatica, herniated disk, shingles, kidney stones among many other. See physician for evaluation, or get second opinion from neuro surgeon.

Consult Pain Doc: People become tolerant of narcotics over time, so that they are just not as effective. Other medications are just as effective, if not more so than standard narcotics for the treatment of pain. I would suggest that you ask your local doctor for a referral to a pain specialist so that you can explore other treatment modalities.
