Chronic fatigue: Undergoing general anesthesia and surgery is a major stressor to the system. This puts a tremendous burden on the adrenal glands and may suppress the immune system. Most of the time it depends on how healthy or stressed the body was prior to the procedure. This allows infections that may not normally be able to cause illness to replicate with a suppressed immune system.
