Signs of the times: In ancient times life span was very limited. One was lucky to make it to 40 years of age. Consequently, many of these diseases were not known to our ancestors. Also we have become more sophisticated in our diagnosis so that many of these diseases were unknown to our ancestors.

Yes.: Everyone would have chance to have those diseases. But they are preventable and treatable. Should see your doctor.

Not likely: Considering their healthy mediterranean diets, their strenuous physical activities, and their likely relatively early deaths from their chosen profession as warriors, it is doubtful that they ever developed these maladies, which are more likely to be associated with being overweight and sedentary and middle aged.

Tough question : My guess, likely not. During their time , those people were more active and ate healthier than we do. They ate more fruits and veggies and less burger , pizza and ice cream . They run and do sports while we watch tv and ate popcorn. If they get sick, they treat themselves with natural herbs. Healthier lifestyle will give u a longer life unless u get run over by a drunk driver !

Probably: The term diabetes actually comes from the greek word for passing increased urine. Mellitus (latin) means sweet as the urine contains a large ammount of sugar. Galen writes about diabetes and so did others. Still, they didnt really undersstand the cause. Sleep apnea was probably less common as there was much less morbid obesity but people with smaller chins, larger tongues may have still had.

Don't need to think: ...we KNOW. In ancient Greece there were different "schools" of intellectual pursuits. In medicine we know most about the Hippocratic school & we have many of their writings. Anyone can read them, including YOU. While some diseases can be recognized by their descriptions, for the most part their notions of health & disease were hopelessly uninformed, & there were NO effective treatments.
