Maybe: A hernia repair may last a lifetime; however, it is not the original. If you have been exertional with lifting, hefting, pushing, pulling, etc.; then it may be possible you have ripped open the hernia again. There are some people who have had 3 hernia repair surgeries in their lives; but with the more recent use of mesh in the repairs; failure is less common. Look for a bulge, & maybe get it seen.

It could...: ...But usually that is because it is infected. You would have increased pain, possibly some redness, possibly fevers, sharp tenderness whe pressing on the mesh . Often sensitivity at the incisional scar is due to issues with the nerves not the mesh per se. Is there any lump or sign of recurrence? This could be a sign of recurrence. If it continues or worsens see a surgeon
