It takes 6 weeks: All incretins (byetta, onglyza, (saxagliptin) januvia, bydureon, victoza) take a full 6 weeks to achieve their full effect. By day 18, you are only seeing half of the effect. This class of medicines is worth the wait, though, for the benefits they give you. They preserve the pancreas and encourage weight loss. Bydureon should lower a1c by 2 points, but remember, that will be seen at your 2nd a1c draw.
