Wrist Pain: Traumatic wrist pain should be evaluated if it is not getting better in a couple of days. An xray is only ordered to confirm a fracture after an evaluation and physical examination. If you know an athletic trainer, physical or occupational therapist, or a physician that can examine you they can better tell you your need for an xray.

Hand and wrist eval: Since you describe your pain as severe with wrist movements, you can start with family dr to see if you need xrays. You must see also an orthopedic surgeon specializing in hand or rehabilitation medicine specialist.
