My son got hit with lacrosse ball last night and now has swelling and pain outside of hand from base of pinky downward. x-ray?

See doctor: If he has significant pain and swelling then it is possible that there is a fracture of a bone. I suggest taking him to a doctor or urgent care. Once a doctor examines the hand they can make a better decision about whether or not an xray is needed. I hope he is feeling better soon. Try some ice packs and elevation on it in the mean time to help decrease swelling.
