My other response +: Let visiting friends tend to your newborn. A typically- developing 1-yr.-old does representational play with a doll (feeding, rocking & burping). Play 1-on-1 on the floor with her. When dolly cries say, "ow, that hurts my ears!" to show you respect your child's feelings. Model holding dolly gently to stop the crying. If you avoid or get angry at your child, her anxiety & behavior will ⬆.

See a pediatrician: And get educated about what to expect from a one year old. Or buy a book on child raising and infant development. If you are having this much difficulty with a 1 year old, just wait a little. You should really take the time to learn how children behave and what to expect in each age group and how to manage their development.
