See Dr., and then...: Helpful weight loss diets have natural foods that take time to chew but contain few calories. Examples include carrots, celery, and iceberg lettuce (little/no salad dressing). When shopping for fruits, buy small ones no bigger than a tennis ball, because fruits have sugar. Drinks without calories include water and green tea. A calorie is a calorie, but surely avoid sugar & simple starch calories.

Lifestyle changes : Diet is 90 percent of the solution. By that i mean eating the tight things. I would recommend a low carb moderate good fat and high protein. Once that is corrected then start light activity in the form of exercise. I would seriously consider professional help to do both. There are so many diets and exercise routines that it can be confusing. Commit to it for at least 10 weeks.

3,500 kcal = 1 pound: Before talking weight loss, calculate body mass index (http://nhlbisupport.Com/bmi/). Then determine bmi percentile based upon age & gender () or use this all-in-one calculator (http://apps.Nccd.Cdc.Gov/dnpabmi/). Normal is 5-85%. Overweight is >85%. Anyway, to lose weight means expending 3, 500 kcals more than one consumes. To lose 1lb/wk, that's 500 kcal/d. Either exercise more, eat less or both.
