"normal" is relative: The 7th joint national commission still says 120/80 with a "pre-hypertensive" range that's a bit higher. "normal" bps are variable, so how checked is important. Put arm cuff (not wrist or finger) on, sit quietly for few minutes, no food, alcohol or caffeine. Auto-inflated cuffs better. Manual readings may yield spuriously low bps if released too rapidly. Consider 24h monitor if still high.

BP classification: Normal blood pressure less than 120/80. Prehypertension 120 to 139 systolic or 80 to 89 diastolic. Hypertension greater than 140 systolic or 90 diastolic. Blood pressure goes up during exercise and decreases in the minutes after exercise. Stress and lack of sleep can increase your blood pressure.
