A member asked:

How does one w/u and follow sclerosing mesenteritis diagnosis by ct scan of abd? if pt is asymptomatic, does a ct guided needle bx of a lesion help?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Often nothing: This is a not uncommon finding on ct. It has a characteristic appearance with hazy increased density at the mesenteric root. Sometimes lymphoma, and desmoplastic tumors such as carcinoid can mimic the appearance but this is not common. Absent symptoms, discreet mass, or adenopathy i would get a followup ct in 3-4 mos.
