Warning Signs: Psychosis can occur in many different psychiatric illnesses such as bipolar disorder, major depressive disorder and schizophrenia. Often there are warning signs that psychosis is about to break through. Changes in mood, erratic behaviors, difficulty relating to others can be warning signs. At this point it is very important for one to work closely with her/his psychiatrist to avoid any psychosis.

Depends ...: Perhaps the psychiatrist was not really making a prediction as much as an observation that it is time for you to address your issues and attempt to get more control over your feelings and behavior (either through therapy, medication, or self- improvement activities). Did the psychiatrist offer some options and if so, are you considering them? If not, time to go back and ask for more information.
