A member asked:

My spines t-score is -3.7 in two places, but my hip is t -1.3. i thought that the bones would show similar readings, why is one area much worse?

DXA scan: We measure in a few regions precisely because the bone density does vary to a great degree. The sites are chosen to correspond to the areas of high fracture frequency. In your case your spine is at greater risk of fracture in general than your hip.

That's how nature: Works. Your spine bone is more fragile and more porous than your hip bone so don't fall to avoid fracture . Stay active , follow your drs advice, take your caltrate, minimize caffeine intake , quit smoking if u do etc . Follow up with your dr!

Variability: Finding in different areas aren't always in-sync. Spinal t-score is significant and needs intervention.
