Yes: If you are under treatment for an anxiety disorder, discuss this problem with your therapist. You may need to take extra medication prior to your dental visits. Also, many dentists use nitrous oxide in their offices to help their patients relax and deal with dental anxiety. Check with your dentist.

Anxiety: Diazepam works well for many patients but it must be used correctly and someone must accompany you . Talk to your dentist about the other forms of sedation and anxiety relief available in your area.

Dental Phobia: Before taking any medication for anxiety for dental procedures you should consult with your dentist about your fears. Diazepam may or may not be the best choice for you and so your consultation may also involve your medical doctor as well. You should also find a dentist with whom you "connect" and in whom you can have confidence and this may involve visiting more than one office.

Valium is ok to take: Take it while u r in the dental office 10-20 mins prior to the procedure . The dose depends upon your tolerance to the drug. Have someone drive for you to and from the dental office to be safe . Take care!

Anxiety: If you have so much fear you may also want to consult with a Clinical Psychologist to learn coping methods so you will feel stronger and not so vulnerable.
