See below: The urine in the catheter tube can look cloudy. There can be fever and pain above the pubic bone. There can be an elevated WBC count. Urinalysis and urine culture are best to confirm an infection if the patient has any symptoms. You can have wbc's and bacteria in the urine if the catheter has been in long. If no signs of infection-asymptomatic bacteriuria does not need rx.
