Very common: Amitriptyline or Elavil (amitriptyline) is an older style antidepressant called a tca (tricyclic antidepressant). It has been used in recent years for a number of off-label indications including neuropathic pain and sleep. The dosage prescribed for pain and sleep are usually lower than the dosages prescribed for depression.

1possibility: It is very common to have a bulging disc. The nerve symptoms are usually related to inflammation. The first step in treatment is usually anti- inflammatories and physical therapy to decrease the mechanical traits that are putting pressure on the disc and strengthen your core. When these measures do not completely work, a medication to help with netve pain is often added. Amytrip. Is one of those.
