12-36 weeks: Any acute strain ( tearing of a muscle) will take at least 2-6 weeks to heal. It heals with scar tissue where the muscle was injured. It may take unto 3-6 months for the resultant stiffness and strength to return to normal. Physical therapy can speed this process.

Up to six weeks: The superior trapezium are major muscles suspending both shoulders & holding head upright. Shoulder injury and/ or a chronically tilted head, even only slightly, can cause these muscles to become chronically spastic and chronically painful, leading to a chronic "tension muscle headache". Posture correction, massage, acupunurte, yoga, heating pad, and biofeedback can help to relieve the spasm.
