See suggestions: He may have localized irritation due to repetitive skin trauma secondary to lack of full sensation, but the low level itching may well be part of the neuropathy, and may respond to drugs such as lyrica, (pregabalin) gabapentin, cymbalta, etc. Local ointments such as capsaicin, or a Lidoderm patch might also help.
