What can we use to help break up the mucus that is in my daughter's throat?

A couple of things.: A baby's room humidifier(warm/cold mist doesn't matter) don't need special chemicals. Just water. Keep it clean. Glyceryl guiacolate(such as plain robitussin) will cut the stickiness of the mucous.
