Generally no: Protein in the urine in pregnancy is something that should be evaluated. Given your age and the fact you have diabetes in pregnancy, you have more risk for a problem called preeclampsia. This is the constellation of high blood pressure, urine protein and (softer call) non dependent edema. Severe head aches or pain in the upper right abdomen and persistent visual changes are more concerning.

Depends: Protein in the urine is never normal but it is often seen in pregnant women with diabetes. Diabetes is a systemic disease that affects many of the body systems including the renal system (kidneys). Depending on how bad your diabetes is, you can experience some protein leakage in the urine.
