Is it normal to pee a lot first thing in the morning?

Yes: Depending on how much fluids you drank night before, the bladder will hold the urine all night.

Likely: Especially if you did not awake during the night to urinate. Also, as we walk and stand during the day, some fluid sinks to our lower extremities as we age, and it is sucked back into vessels when we are recumbent, worse if you have a touch of vascular/venous insufficiency or sodium excess and mild congestive failure. So, the kidney filters out the excess solute and water, the bladder fills.
