Why do some scars flatten while others turn whiter, fade or do nothing?

Scars: When human skin is injured, the body needs to heal the wound, and a scar is formed. The kind of scar formed is related to the location of the injury, and how the wound is cared for, and by genetic makeup of the person who is injured. Plastic surgery tries to leave the best looking scar. Wounds need to be kept clean, the wound edges close together, and moist and covered, and out of the sun.
