Acute Neck Pain: Recent onset of pain in the absence of major injury is typically muscular and benign. Trial of rest, ice, nsaid's should help. If not improving then pt including mckenzie exercises could be recommended buy you'll need a doctor's prescription. Usually, symptoms that resolve relatively quickly after onset indicate a benign problem. Give it a couple weeks, and if no better (or if worse) get help.
