A member asked:

Is surgery the option or not from an auto accident and broke spine?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Surgery for fracture: Indications for spine surgery include instability, neurologic injury, multiple injuries. It is perfectly reasonable to treat a stable fracture with a brace and activity restrictions for 6 wks-3 months or more depending on fracture. It is equally reasonable to treat a fracture surgically if your spinal cord or nerves are in peril, or it would get you moving quicker and minimize risks of bedrest.
