Sir i hd a ligament tear 7 months ago, with reference to my dr i had a digital x-ray 15 days ago. report - mild swelling seen ovr lateral malleolus.

Ligament tear: Well sounds like a lateral ankle sprain grade 2 or 3. An ultrasound should have been perfomed to assess the three ligaments on the lateral aspect to correlate with the physical exam (ex anterior drawer sign). Recommendation to get the swelling down is rest, ice, compression (ankle brace or cam boot) and elevation. Surgery is rare.
