Exam/ X-rays / rest: If u already 'know ' u have 'swelling' @ the proximal fibula w/ associated pain and no definitive injury then a stress fracture is possible. Get a thorough examination, X-rays by a board certified ORS . Bone scan and or MRI can be diagnostic.best of luck!
